Power and Family Dynamics

Recently reading a review of Satir's work online which claimed that her view that patents are the architects of the family was conflated with the idea that parents are to blame--then went on to say that current knowledge is that all members of the family are involved in circular relations. Aside from the fact that Satir would never "blame" parents--in fact, affirmed that maturity is equated with an honoring of people separate from their roles...we do need to hold this in tension with the recognition that parents are the ones who wield power within the family. Any post-structuralist discussions of power relations within the family with respect to Satir's work?
