We can learn something new anytime we believe we can

Martin Seligman talks about psychology -- as a field of study and as it works
one-on-one with each patient and each practitioner.
As it moves beyond a focus on disease, what can modern psychology help
us to become?

I thought this was really impressive. Seligman is at the University of Pennsylvania right near by in Philadelphia. Sharon Loeschen and I talked about how in would be interesting to contact him. I have that on my to do list - for next year. I think his ideas are totally synergistic with Satir's.

"Not good enough..."

"Highest strenghts"
"Use them in the service to belong to
and in the service of something larger than you are"
"positive institutions"

According to me, truth is that if one is a stuck "ego-centric" and never
examines "the(ir) ego", such a "life" is destined to fail where it comes
to "pleasure", "meaningful life" and more such positive healthy
inner attitudes. Indeed those people then hang on to a
"negative psychology".

Perhaps the question is how to make a society wherein through
earliest education already the "highest talents" of a child are celebrated
and so more "individual" based education as lateron the "individual" WILL
find a place in the "whole" but only naturally, as is in fact according to
the 'essence' of the original meaning of "individual" stemming from "individuus"
which means "undivided" and so "the ego" as a "separative force"
will be at least less dominant (as still too dominant in nowadays society
consisting of, i guess, sort of 'misunderstood' "individuals",
a wrong or erratic basis of "individual"). So: the way of education...
is the solution.

Well, this my reply so far after having watched this "status quo of psychology" video.
