Conference in Hong Kong this year

I am wondering if anyone on this network is planning to be in Hong Kong for the conference in June? I will be there - as will 4 other Satir Global board members. We are looking forward to meeting you!

As I watch the plans evolving for the conference I am excited by what is being put together. Also, having not been to China - I am looking forward to spending some time in this amazing country whose people have given so many gifts to the world and continues to grow.

I wonder… Continue

Playing for Change - a project that supports children and peace through music

http://www.playingforchange.com/episodes

Listen to this wonderfully creative mix of singers and musicians recorded all over the world.

Incredible.

Each episode is a song made from mixing recordings of singers and musicians from around the world.

New songs (episodes) are posted periodically.

This is the work of a foundation called: Playing for Change.

This project has been 4 years in the making.

As the crew traveled to different locations they asked… Continue

Movies that inspire

Today my husband, Robert, said - "You've got to see this movie" The movie the Freedom Writers, which came out in 2008. Wow! The story of a woman, Erin Gruwell, and her students, in Long Beach, California and how they grow together , develop respect and change their lives - and today they continue that together in a foundation that passes that experience on to others.

Positive Psychology

I watched a few TED sessions - Technology, Entertainment, Design: "Ideas worth spreading".

Lots of food 4 thought here. Martin Seligman, associated with Positive Psychology and a professor in nearby University of Pennsylvania is one of the sessions.

I am not a psychologist, but it seems to me that there is synergy between Satir's approach and Positive Psychology - the base assumption being an approach from optimism. "People are not broken".

Just bought several books:… Continue

That would be fun.
Now I'm starting some courses at the local college.
I'd like to try some experiential sessions, but am
being brain-dead at this point - probably due to needing
to write the syllabus & presentations. Maybe I could
bounce some ideas off you - once I get some.
Classes are IT Systems & maybe Software Development (I find out if 4 or more people registered
tomorrow).

Hi Becky, dear Satir sister,

Pink bunny, and I remember my mouse that could take off its head and turn into a lion. I have that integrated, and now I am dangerousssssssss when ever I choose to take my head off. :-))

Great that you can now participate again. What's the machine? Oh, and just under "My Satir experience/work" you have a "Netowrk"?

Love,

Nynke

Becky,

Shall I remove this Becky:

and make this Becky manager?

Hugs,

Nyn

Now that my head is temporary out of 1st class focus.
I found out today that I'm only teaching one class, "software development" which has 3 students (2 seniors & a junior. Could be fun.

I'd love to do another Satir session with you. The past adventures were fun. Any ideas for a conference or whatever?

Hugs,
Pat

Hi Becky,

This one is now manager. Please remove the other Becky. I cannot. I can "ban" her, and that is not the same ... Just the thought kills me :-)

I would hate to ban or sever the other Becky, too.
Let me sit on it and replace the connections :)))
Then we'll re-incarnate - so to speak.

Hi, Becky, thanks - I saw an invitation on the Retrospectives list, didn't have any idea what it was about, and signed up just because I have a high regard for the little I know about Virginia Satir (and quote her occasionally). I didn't know this is mostly a chat group - and don't currently know how to make use of it. Cheers, Alistair.
