Today my husband, Robert, said - "You've got to see this movie" The movie the Freedom Writers, which came out in 2008. Wow! The story of a woman, Erin Gruwell, and her students, in Long Beach, California and how they grow together , develop respect and change their lives - and today they continue that together in a foundation that passes that experience on to others.

Positive Psychology

I watched a few TED sessions - Technology, Entertainment, Design: "Ideas worth spreading".
Lots of food 4 thought here. Martin Seligman, associated with Positive Psychology and a professor in nearby University of Pennsylvania is one of the sessions.

I am not a psychologist, but it seems to me that there is synergy between Satir's approach and Positive Psychology - the base assumption being an approach from optimism. "People are not broken".

Google Submission - Request for Information!!

Hello all (and special thanks to Debbie - who mentioned Google's solicitation!)

Sharon Loeschen is crafting a submission based on her Enriching Relationships program, which takes Satir concepts out to everyone - People of all walks of life. SHe is hoping to take this out into the world as a world wide program.
With funding to support a face to face and also connective technology (like this one!) - Sharon can do a whole lot more. And we may be able to help!

My guess is that camp will go on and probably there for the next couple of years. I work in the construction industry and my gut says that no one in their right mind is going to put money into building vacation resorts.

I checked into the Satir Network here in Sacramento and there is a chapter here but not a lot of activity. I need to keep my batteries charged and Satir helps me see things differently hence the battery charging.

Many of us are in survival mode I guess and that means putting less energy into our interpersonal relationships. Ironic, since during stressful times it is when we need those relationships to be at their strongest. Good to hear from you Becky!
