good morning Joseph,
in fact I am one of the trainers of the internet-course. But I also did some trainings in real life situations. Part of them together with Sharon but also by myself. For me it is really enriching to work in a team and to do workshops in a team. It is a little more relaxing but also for me a great learning experience. Because the other people in the team explain things and exercises differently as I do and by listening and watching I can learn a lot.
Is it a regular school you are working or is it the University of Seattle? What clases or courses do you give?
Take care
Gundolf.
Dear Joseph,
thanks for the reply. Yes, it is in fact really interesting and I think especially for the group of gay and lesbians it would be very interesting - especially because they are still sort of a not integretated in all the parts of society and therefore struggle with self-acceptance.
And yes, I am a trainer of the Enriching program. Did I tell you, that I translated the book by Sharon into german? It was published this January and is now available on the market, meaning in the bookstores.
Take care
Gundolf
Dear Joseph,
I am very happy to give you more information about the connection of the Enriching program and Virginia Satir. But first can you help me and decode GLBTQ. Never heard of that!
O.k. Sharon Loeschen, the founder of the Enriching program trained in the 80´s with Virginia Satir. She was very fascinated by her work and years after her death (Virginia`s) Sharon got the idea to look closer what is the magic of Virginia`s therapeutical work. She started to watch as much of the videos of the work of Virginia as possible. The result was that she came out with six steps that are more or less in all the interventions of Virginia. To each of these six steps she connected all the different skills Virginia used in her work. The whole model is described in the book "The Satir Proces" by Sharon Loeschen.
Margarita Suarez was very fascinated by those six steps and used them in her privat and professional life. She contacted Sharon with the idea to create a training program around these six steps. Since the first presentation of the training program in 2005 a lot of people have been trained with the skills of the six steps.
So there is actually a very deep and profound connection between Virginia Satir and the Enriching Program. If you are interested in more details, you can also go to the internet page of the program. This is:
http://www.enrichingskills.net/
There is also a possibility to do a training with the program via internet. The idea is to get information and connected to that some exercises you are requiered to do. A trainer will guide you through any troubles and questions you might have. He/she will also work with you via mail on the exercises in the form of giving you feedback or ask for more details. So if you are interested in doing that, you too find the necessary information on the enriching side. If you get the idea of taking an e-mail course, you can ask Sharon to name me as your trainer, if you want to.
If you have any further questions, please let me know. I am happy if I can help you.
Best wishes to you
Gundolf.
Dear Joseph,
I promised I would contact you when I am back from the trip. We have had a wonderful time and saw so wonderful things of this planet. It is such a beautiful planet we are living on.
Well, you asked for more information about the Enriching Program. What would you like to know about it? There is a lot that I could tell you, but I would like to give you useful information. So ask any question that is of interest for you.
Looking forward to them. Regards
Gundolf.
Hi, Joe!
Congratulations and best on keeping the northwest rolling!
You can greate a group page by going to the menu at the top that says "group" and click on it - you don't need to select one of the group in the drop down. Then on the Group page there is in the upper right hand side "+Add a Group" - click on that! The description should be reasonable short. You can add an entry that will permit more space. Also consider adding a Blog for Satir NW!
Look forward to seeing your progress.
thanks for your interest in the Enriching Program. I will refer to it when I am back from my trip over the Andes. Because right now I am just packing the car to leave for a three week vacation with my wife. But if you do not have the patience to wait that long for more information I would ask you to contact Sharon Loeschen - she is also a member of this comunity and in fact the founder of the program. But I am more then happy to give you more information.
Regards Gundolf.

Joe, I wish you the best in reviving Satir in the NW. What activities are you doing now to draw in members? Have you had any meetings or events? Do you have a sense of where to find potential interested parties? Perhaps we can post something on this site for folks in the Seattle area? What are your hopes and wishes?

Thanks, Joe! I believe you might connect with some who have experience and thoughts for you. I hope you find inspiration and answers to transform questions into a path of discovery.

About me
I am attending Seattle U for my Masters in Systems Renewal. Exploring the Satir Model and looking to use the model to create healthy role models in the GLBTQ community
My Satir experience/work
I did complete my consultation for me graduate program, I worked with Multi faith Works . I had a generational conversation on the views of the GLBTQ community.
What came out of the conversation was many people had the same experiences now matter what generation they where from. But older people felt alone during this time. Also there where no role models for them.
The most moving moment for me was when the elder of the group reached out to the youngest, and said it was sad that they been working for a long time together ,but did not talk about "their story" .
I am seeing how I could use the Satir Model in this situation of understanding the past for many of these people.
I am now working with Nancy MacDonald , here in Seattle, to be able to use the tools of the Satir Model.
My interests/hopes and wishes
My interest is connecting with like mined people in the Satir Community and forming a GLBTQ group with in the Satir community.

Best with the Satir NW group!
Perhaps you might invite people to come here.
Will be interested to hear how the reforming works out.
By the way, you might open a group on GLBTQ under Groups - if that fits for you.
Hugs, Becky
