Luigi Gerardi Satir words?? A misterious quote...

Dear friends at Satir-ning, thanks to all at SGN, who helped me in searching Satir stuff for my new Italian book on Satir modeling and Counseling. The book is finished, by now...but I have the last search about a quote ascribed to "nlpers", but I do think is from Virginia. The quote is: "If a person is in front an option is disperate; if he/she have two options, he/she is in front a dilemma; if the person has at least three options he/she is free” - Are these words from Virginia? Becky Winant Playing for Change - a project that supports children and peace through music

http://www.playingforchange.com/episodes Listen to this wonderfully creative mix of singers and musicians recorded all over the world. Incredible. Each episode is a song made from mixing recordings of singers and musicians from around the world. New songs (episodes) are posted periodically. This is the work of a foundation called: Playing for Change. This project has been 4 years in the making. As the crew traveled to different locations they asked the local people what they needed and wanted.… Continue

Sandy Novak Back from China where Satir is flourishing!

Dear Satir Friends, I returned last week from a 3 week trip to China where I taught Parenting and the Satir Model in Shenzhen, Beijing, and Shanghai and a new workshop, "Intimacy in Your Marriage through the Satir Model" in Beijing. The couples workshop was a great success, very exciting. John Banmen is building a team of 10 trainers from the West to help develop a solid system of Satir training for professionals and individuals interested in personal growth. We are the "Dream Team." from an inf… Continue

Sandy Novak Satir training in the People's Republic of China

Hi all, I recently returned from PRC, having taught two parenting workshops and one training for trainers workshop to enthusiastic and grateful crowds. The Chinese people are loving the Model and so quick to incorporate it into their lives at home and at work. John Banmen has laid the groundwork for us, training professionals to become therapists in the Satir Model. Angie Dairou and Steve Buckbee are also offering trainings to organizations, companies, and police officers. Imagine China being po… Continue

Becky Winant Movies that inspire

Today my husband, Robert, said - "You've got to see this movie" The movie the Freedom Writers, which came out in 2008. Wow! The story of a woman, Erin Gruwell, and her students, in Long Beach, California and how they grow together , develop respect and change their lives - and today they continue that together in a foundation that passes that experience on to others. http://www.freedomwriters.com/ and more about the real story http://www.chasingthefrog.com/reelfaces/freedomwriters.php I am wo… Continue

Becky Winant Positive Psychology

I watched a few TED sessions - Technology, Entertainment, Design: "Ideas worth spreading". Lots of food 4 thought here. Martin Seligman, associated with Positive Psychology and a professor in nearby University of Pennsylvania is one of the sessions. I am not a psychologist, but it seems to me that there is synergy between Satir's approach and Positive Psychology - the base assumption being an approach from optimism. "People are not broken". Just bought several books: Learned Optimism (M. Selig… Continue

Sara Bechor A Teaser

I have been following the life and thought of Virginia Satir for some years now. Although I do much personal and family oriented consultation I spend much of my time and energy in business and organizational consulting. I have always been amazed by the great potential in Virginia's ideas and have been developing, in my head and in my work, applications of the Satir Model in organizational and business consultation. I have found that in the last few years, more and more business people and leader… Continue

Hello all (and special thanks to Debbie - who mentioned Google's solicitation!) Sharon Loeschen is crafting a submission based on her Enriching Relationships program, which takes Satir concepts out to everyone - People of all walks of life. SHe is hoping to take this out into the world as a world wide program. With funding to support a face to face and also connective technology (like this one!) - Sharon can do a whole lot more. And we may be able to help! Here's where we have been stumped in… Continue

Sara Bechor Beautiful blessing

"..Show me a sign today that you paid attention to any one of these things that i've created, and bring them in a way that i won't expect, so I'm as surprised at my ability to be able to experience these things, and make it so, that i have no doubt that it's come from you" _________ From "The bleep" movie (time 1:32:00) Continue

Becky Winant Global Warming at the Icebox

A friend, Leslie Kaufman, co-curated this show: http://www.philasculptors.org/globalwarming/ This weekend Robert and I have been videotaping the artists in this show and today will video the opening. Everyone explores the effect of climate change and global warming. Some making subtle relationships in nature come alive in new and personal ways. Many are interative instillations. One artist you should check out is Shai Zakai, http://www.eco-art.co.il/cv.asp?CL=ENG, a green activist and artist… Continue

Nynke Etk Fokma A circle is the embodiment of my concept of life

I have been asked to do a presentation on "embodying" for a workgroup of the Jung society. I made a first story choreography for such a session. I request your feedback. [curiosity and emotional flexibility]: stances exercise: blaming, placating, super-reasonable, irrelevant; what emotions came up when taking these stances? [knowledge and wisdom] In shamanic philosophy, beliefs and practices, "embodiment" is used as… Continue

Becky Winant Seeking Inspiration

I have been trading emails with Sharon Loeschen and other VSGN board members about what Virginia Satir Global Network means and brings to each member. My observation is the member community of Satir practitioners is giving and loving. And it may be difficult for members to see beyond the self-evident value of Virginia's own network (she established Avanta, which has been renamed Virginia Satir Global Network to honor her on her 90th birthday). So, here we are. Even without the background I thi… Continue

Nynke Etk Fokma European Consultants Camp 2008

As usual, EU Camp was amazing. As wild as some of the previous camps were, this one was mostly relaxed. Relaxed enough for us to decide that we are carefully and safely going to expand. Now that our core is stable and the EU Camp gestalt has matured somewhat, we can deal with some more tension brought about by healthy individuation (more diversity). Mjam! And again, as usual, I liked the sessio… Continue
